Hello all,
I’m sad to announce that this is the final blog post in the BUS 2001 series. It has been fun reflecting each week about what I’ve done and the things I’ve learned in this class. At the beginning of the course, I had certain expectations, and I can truthfully say that this course has exceeded those expectations. I wanted to learn more about the career resources offered here at TU and how to apply them to my job search. Through this class, I’ve been given a huge amount of resources to help me with developing my personal brand and furthering my career; certainly more resources than I could have wished for. I was also really excited at the beginning to explore my strengths and pinpoint my blindspots. We focused on these a lot in the first half of the course. Finding out how I function and relate to others was a hugely important part of the course. I will use the insight this course gave me from now on in my career and even in my personal relationships. I was also looking forward to the mock interview sessions and the resume help that I would receive through the class. The instruction and insight I have gained about the job searching process and how to ace an interview will be extremely useful in the near future. This class has also given me a very specific view of professionalism that I never had before. I now know how I should behave in situations that I have not yet encountered but that I almost certainly will in the future. Workplace etiquette was something I wasn't excepting to learn, but I'm so glad it was included in the course. It has helped me tremendously in knowing what to do in certain hard-to-navigate situations.
As a result of this class, I now have several internship options for the summer that I am considering. The application of the concepts covered in this class will continue to aid me in my time here at TU and even beyond into my career. Special thanks to Dean Thompson who taught the class with excellence!
